 Neil Gaiman

Described by Forbes magazine as "the best-selling author you've never heard of," Neil Gaiman has been among the top comics authors for more than two decades. With a deep respect for the critical importance of storytelling, his work probes the worlds of imagination and creativity to explore the metaphors by which we live our lives. Indeed, his mastery of myth and legend—and each's respective role in the contemporary world—make his work as both a writer and a speaker unique. Gaiman's "Fragile Things" (William Morrow, 2006) contains stories set in the worlds of "The Matrix," as well as Gothic fiction and children’s fiction. This extraordinary collection showcases his storytelling brilliance, as well as his terrifyingly entertaining dark sense of humor. He also is the creator and writer of the monthly cult DC Comics series "Sandman" (Vertigo), winner of 12 Eisner Comic Industry Awards and a World Fantasy Award for best short story—making it the first comic ever to receive a literary award. Introduced in 1988, "Sandman" ran 75 issues before the author ended the series in 1996 (while reigning as DC Comics’ best-selling monthly). Re-introduced in 2003, the graphic novel "Sandman: Endless Nights" continues the saga and reaches an even wider audience. Norman Mailer called "Sandman" "a comic strip for intellectuals," and the LA Times wrote of the series: “The greatest epic in the history of comic books.” Gaiman's best-selling novel "American Gods" (Au Diable Vauvert)—winner of the 2002 Bram Stoker Award, Hugo Award and the Nebula Award for best novel—is a dark and kaleidoscopic journey deep into myth that is both eerily familiar and utterly alien. His No. 1 New York Times best-seller "Anansi Boys" (HarperTorch, 2006) tells the story of “Fat Charlie,” who learns his dad wasn’t just any father—he was Anansi, the spider-god who encompasses the spirit of rebellion and overturns social order, creating wealth out of thin air and baffling the devil. Gaiman recently has made quite a splash in film, having co-written with Roger Avary the script for the 2007 motion picture "Beowulf," directed by Robert Zemeckis, and starring Anthony Hopkins and Angelina Jolie. The author also co-penned the script for '07 release "Stardust," starring Robert DeNiro, Michelle Pfeiffer and Claire Danes, and narrated by Ian McKellan. At the podium, the best-selling author shares stories that have shaped the past, providing audiences the critical wisdom and inspiration to strive in both business and life. AT A GLANCE: Neil Gaiman was born in England and currently lives outside of Minneapolis. An avid reader from a young age, he has always loved comics. His website, www.neilgaiman.com, was heralded by CNN for "reinventing the marketing of a novel." Gaiman serves on the Board of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, an organization striving to protect the First Amendment rights of comic book creators, publishers and retailers. Between 1993 and 2000, he did a series of reading in theaters across America dubbed the “Guardian Angel Tour”; through it, he raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.

 Graham Kelly

In 1986, Graham graduated with a BSc Honours Degree in Chemistry from Edinburgh University. This proved a surprisingly good preparation for his first job in advertising - copywriter for a Dutch business-to-business agency specialising in the chemicals industry. Realising that doing ads for consumers was a bit more fun that writing for chemical engineers, Graham joined a mainstream Dutch agency that did both advertising and direct marketing. In 1991, Graham moved to Singapore, joining O&M Direct as a copywriter. 4 years later, he moved “above-the-line” with O&M. Approximately 3 years Graham had progressed to Senior Writer. He then advanced to Creative Director, joining Leo Burnett Singapore in 1998. One year later in 1999 Graham joined TBWA Singapore, as Executive Creative Director. Eager to expand his knowledge of “New Media” (as it was called back then), Graham joined Ogilvy Interactive in July 2000 as Regional Creative Director, Asia Pacific. In this role he oversaw the build up of the regional network, which ultimately grew to encompass: Hong Kong, Tokyo, Beijing, Jakarta, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Just over three years later, in August 2003, Graham joined Saatchi & Saatchi Singapore. His role here was to strengthen the agency’s through-the-line abilities, and expand the agency’s creative offering into direct marketing and interactive. In October 2005 Graham joined BBH Japan. His brief was similar: to strengthen the agency’s creative offering across all media. Graham was instrumental in winning the agency’s newest client: New City Corporation. This leading Japanese financial organisation entrusted the agency to launch a new online mortgage service. The resulting integrated campaign, launched at the end of 2006, encompassed viral films, TV ads, rich media banners, ambient media, EDM (Electronic Direct Marketing) and mobile marketing. On January 15th 2007, Graham joined TBWA/Tequila, as “Creative Integrator”. As such, in addition to acting as Executive Creative Director of TBWA/Tequila Singapore, Graham will play a key role in developing a fully-integrated creative offering. Graham will also act as a creative resource for other TBWA/Tequila offices in Asia. Graham has made his mark at the agency by \winning the Singapore Airlines business - arguably Asia’s most prestigious account win - after 4 months in the job. Asia’s top performing agency at last year’s Clios. One of only 3 Asian agencies to win a Pencil at last year’s D&AD.
